November Monthly Progress Report

Apologies for the slightly late update! I’ve been living out of a suitcase for the past week, and I wanted to wait until I could sit down and write this properly.

Here’s our November update – lots of good things happened.

👀 Incredible, Inspiring Research Trip

The most significant part of this month – and truly one of the most meaningful experiences since starting Tim’s Club – came from a beautiful local connection.

Deb, who lives just down the road from Tim’s Club and has recently joined our Tim’s Club family, has already made such a huge impact. Through her, I was introduced to her sister Diana, the co-founder of Impact Autism in Cincinnati, Ohio. Together, they invited me to come see the enormous body of work they’ve built over the years.

I spent several days in Cincinnati getting a full, behind-the-scenes look at the kinds of programs, support systems, and community initiatives we dream of creating here in Panama. The trip was nothing short of inspiring.

I was welcomed into their family gatherings (& made to feel part of the family), toured their facilities, met their teams, and saw firsthand the innovation, structure, and heart that goes into everything they do.

I was lucky to visit:

1. Their Family Home

The home they built to support their 3 adult children with autism had so many of the pieces we envision for Tim’s Club. It always makes me smile how those of us close to autism share a similar instinct for what would make the “dream place” – calm spaces, intentional design, outdoor areas for regulation and joy.

Check out their garden here. It’s straight off an early Pinterest board I would have shared with you!

2. Impact Innovation at the University of Cincinnati

Next, I was able to visit Impact Innovation at the University of Cincinnati – a groundbreaking program redefining independence, vocational training and life skills for adults with autism. This program exists because of the work of Impact Autism, founded by Diana.

Ideas for Tim’s Club inspired by Impact Innovation:

  • Individual booths for members to have their own space.

  • Communication tools like visual schedules to support morning and end-of-day routines.

  • A thoughtful enrollment and scheduling process modeled after what they’ve refined over years.

  • Hands-on systems that encourage choice and independence.

3. The Freeman Center

And finally, we toured the Freeman Center – a comprehensive health center offering integrated, compassionate support for adults with developmental disabilities.

Ideas for Tim’s Club inspired by The Freeman Center:

  • Dedicated wellness and sensory-regulation spaces members can rely on.

  • Art, projects, and visual supports created by the community to make spaces feel personal and meaningful.

  • Room-by-room sponsorship opportunities, allowing more families, donors, and businesses to help bring a specific space to life.

Overall, this visit gave me clarity, direction, and so many beautiful ideas for what we are building together in Panama. I am so grateful.

💛 Local Fundraising Success!

This month, we want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to our incredible local community. Between the generosity of the Women’s Games Day group and the live music night hosted by Jessica & Wayne Pooley and John Carney Díaz, a total of $700 was raised for Tim’s Club 🎉 We are so grateful.

The Women’s Games Day group chose Tim’s Club as their charity and rallied together with so much heart. And the live music night at Luna Rossa was absolutely fantastic – full of talent, energy, and joy.

A special thank-you to Jennifer, who made this possible for us. 💛
